Etlingera elatior ‘pink’

Family: Zingiberaceae

Origin: Indonesia

This ginger plant grows to a height greater than the height of a person but the flowers spring from below and can be admired at eye level. I've always wished that I could have this plant in my garden but first I will have to wish for a big garden. Fortunately in our Botanic Gardens there is a Ginger garden where these flowers put up a good show for visitors quite frequently. I have also seen them in other parks and gardens.
